nannup gardens banner nannup flower festivalThe 18th Nannup Flower and Garden Festival is fast approaching in 2014.  Set to run over 4 days from the 14th to 17th of August, this years event is set to be better than ever. It's an exciting and diverse program offering garden displays, markets, talks, quilting and art demonstrations, musical entertainmen,t celebrity gardens and chefs, and a whole lot more. You can download the official program here: Nannup Gardens 2014 Program Nannup is just an hour's drive from Pemberton so if you're staying in the area it's a great place for a day trip with the promise of lots of to see and do. Let's take a look at what's on offer;

OPEN GARDENS:  nannup flower festival tulips

Over the four days of the festival there are a number of public and private gardens open to visitors. Some are free and others have a small fee of up to $5 for entry. Experience meandering pathways through forest gardens, fields of tulips with the opportunity to purchase, varieties of bubs, the Nannup community Food Garden and more.

DISPLAYS AND WORKSHOPS:

Over the festival period there is a multitude of activities and experiences to enjoy. Some are on everyday and others only on one day or for the weekend on, so if there's something you'd like to see, check your program to be sure you can fit everything in!
  • Great Hall of Flowers - interactive flower display featuring an amazing array of tulips an other flowers
  • Quilt and Craft Display - handcrafted quilts and other crafts created by local residents.
  • Nannup Historical Display - visit the old Main Roads building to enjoy a walk back in time through Nannup.
  • Vintage Cars and Bikes - several car clubs including the Indian Motorcycle club are offering their vehicles for public display. Car enthusiasts - don't miss this opportunity! (weekend only).
  • Art Exhibition - presenting the festival's "Over the Garden Gate" exhibition - a collection of works by South West artists.
  • Sculpture Walk - experience the sculpture walk set up in the lower gardens of Holberry House B&B. A unique display from many reknown South West sculptors.
  • Paint a Picket Workshop - a fun opportunity to paint a picket for a fence that will be installed in displays during the festival.
  • Gabion Seat Building Workshop - watch or assist in the building of a genuine gabion seat.
  • Animal Art in the Park - Enjoy the artwork and models of animals created by Nannup District High School Students on a walk through the Nannup Foreshore Park.
  • Village Markets - will be help over the weekend featuring food, drinks, local crafts and potted plants. Lots to see, eat, buy and enjoy!

Check your program (download via link at top of article) for full details of the 20 minute presentations followed by 10 minutes of question time.  These talks are a great opportunity for gardening enthusiasts whether you're interested in growing vegies, making your own compost or display gardens. The sought after guest speakers will be presenting over Saturday and Sunday only.

ENTERTAINMENT:

There's loads of entertainment to choose from during the festival. On offer there will be films, stilt-walking, the school choir, Sing Australia and lots of other music to experience and enjoy.  Check your program for full details of whats on and when.
